Wonderful vintage Parry Vieille Limoges France porcelain trinket box designed as an old-fashioned travel suitcase or steamer trunk.
The hand-painted exterior has a warm ivory and tan finish with brown leather-look straps, buckles and travel details. A red NEW-YORK luggage label decorates the front, while the reverse features a blue PARIS label. An envelope motif on the top adds to the vintage traveler theme. The porcelain box is finished with detailed antique-brass-tone metal mounting, hinge and a wonderful padlock-shaped clasp. Open the suitcase and the white porcelain interior reveals small hand-painted necktie motifs. The underside carries the registered Parry Vieille mark: Limoges France PV Marque Déposée Peint Main “Peint Main” means hand painted in French. Parry Vieille Limoges boxes are discontinued, and the atelier's pieces appear across the secondary collector market in many unusual figural designs.
